The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Alright Riverclan so....

If someone draws a group picture of Riverclan and you aren't in it, please don't be so fucking butthurt. Honestly, QUITTING because you weren't in a PICTURE? That doesn't mean you aren't NOTICED. It means there are fucking 75,000 warriors in Riverclan and you happen to be ONE of them. Nobody remembers you in every picture, every time. Unless you're Mistystar, seriously. Chill the fuck out, take a deep fucking breath. It's really annoying when I log onto dA and all I see are "WHY DID YOU FORGET MEEEE STOP OMG WHY AM I NOT NOTICED UGH *cries*" Don't. Make. Me. Shoot. Myself. I TOO was forgotten, but I honestly don't mind because I know it doesn't mean she didn't like me, it means she simply forgot to put me in there. If she remembered, I know for a fact I would have been there too.

Lol you are SOOOO right. Its impossible to get the whole of River into one picture. Since I'm so minor to everyone, I haven't been in a singel group picture. And honestly, I DONT CARE THAT IM NOT IN THEM. I'm kinda glad I'm not cause I HATE describing Icy to everyone. -.
